We need a rule to cover all of the things attorneys do after they ask that basic question. This is the pattern that came up in four different questions on FB.
...Do you know where he is right now? because that is going to make a difference.
...Do you want to take a break right now? because we are starting into a different line of questioning.
The word after the question mark can be capped or not.
These are correctly punctuated. Put the interrog where the question is first asked.
Ugly? Perhaps but oh so correct.
