Run-On Sentences

"Punctuation Precision" Reading Run-On Sentences 1 minute Next The Word "Court"

A frequent statement on FB by those asking for punctuation help: "The attorney keeps using run-on sentences."

Just a note of clarification: Run-on sentences are created by bad punctuation. They cannot be "said."

This is what was said: "The man came into the bank. He was alone." A comma after "bank" or no punctuation after "bank" makes it a run-on.

This is what was said: "I signed it; the manager signed it. It was sent to the rental agency. That's it." A comma anywhere in this answer makes it a run-on. It is not "said" as a run-on.

Happy punctuating -- and Happy Fourth of July, celebrating my 19th wedding anniversary.
